Nemahsis Releases Single & Video “Old Body, New Mind”

Nemahsis the songwriter Nemah Hasan, who has Palestinian roots — sings about seizing her tangled identity as an independent artist, a Muslim, the daughter of immigrants and a self-questioning but determined individualist. Canadian-Palestinian singer-songwriter and social activist Nemahsis returns with her latest single and music video “Old Body, New Mind” from her debut album Verbathim – out now on her own independent label imprint Verbaithim. The new single captures the bittersweet nature of memories, the difficulty of moving on, and the conflicting emotions of regret, longing, and acceptance. The title “Old Body, New Mind” encapsulates the idea that while Nemahsis is physically the same, her experiences and emotions have changed.
The Noah “40” Shebib, Rodaidh McDonald, and Matt McNeil co-produced song floats over a melodic combination of bass guitar, strings and piano evoking the feelings of nostalgia, loss and personal growth. The accompanying music video – shot in one fluid scene – depicts Nemahsis at a distance from her friends reflecting on old memories and past relationships only to return back to them in the end.
