Chrissy Spratt Shares New Single ‘Call On Me’
Rising Canadian pop star Chrissy Spratt today announces her debut EP, Fifth Goodbye, set for release on Aug. 22nd via Hi-Way 89 Entertainment. Additionally, Chrissy has teamed with afrobeats stars Nonso Amadi and Serøtonin for her latest single “Call On Me,” a thrilling blend of R&B, dancehall, afropop, and amapiano, out now.
Blending themes of love, reassurance, and emotional vulnerability, the track is delivered from the perspective of partners in a relationship where, despite their challenges, there’s a strong desire to hold on, support each other, and remain committed.
“Call On Me” marks Spratt’s first international collaboration, as she’s joined by Nonso Amadi, the Nigerian-Canadian Universal Music recording artist known for his fusion of afrobeats and R&B, and Serøtonin, the mysterious Nigerian star whose debut single “Venus” became an instant viral hit earlier this year. Amadi co-produced “Call On Me,” along with Andy Crae, in addition to contributing a guest verse and dueting with Spratt on the infectious track.
“When Nonso and I got in the studio, the energy was effortless,” Chrissy Spratt says. “It was one of those no-pressure sessions that naturally turned into ‘Call On Me’ — a feel-good love song we’re both really proud of. Nonso freestyled the first verse and set the tone for the rest of the song. After listening back to what we had created, I just knew Serøtonin would be the perfect addition. The second I heard his verse, I got chills — his melodies brought everything together.”
“‘Call on Me’ is an Afro-R&B record that explores the emotions of love, longing, and deep connection,” adds Nonso Amadi. “Chrissy and I wrote it during our very first studio session together, and from the start, we wanted to create something that captured the intensity and vulnerability of being in love. The production is intentionally stripped back and easy to vibe to so the emotion in the lyrics really shines through. It’s a song meant to make you feel, to reminisce, and to move.”
Hailing from Ottawa, Canada’s capital city, Chrissy Spratt’s music mixes chilled-out pop R&B sensibilities with the throbbing rhythms of amapiano and other contemporary dance sounds. First coming to fame on Instagram and TikTok, she built her audience by flawlessly performing on-demand covers by request from fans. These dynamic covers, spanning pop, R&B, afrobeats, and Latin music, among other genres, have been crucial in growing her diverse audience, which now numbers over 5.5 million followers across social platforms (including 4.1 million on TikTok).
Now focused on original music, Chrissy Spratt is finalizing Fifth Goodbye, with contributions from producers including Nonso Amadi; Tejiri, the Grammy-winning producer behind Tems’ “Higher” (a track sampled by Future and Drake’s “Wait For U”); and Canadian artist/producers and songwriting team Coleman Hell and La+ch.
For her debut project, Chrissy has teamed with Hi-Way 89 Entertainment, the newly-formed music company helmed by Canadian-Nigerian music executives Ikenna Nwagboso and Camillo Doregos. Alongside Chrissy Spratt, Hi-Way 89 Entertainment’s first round of signings includes South Africa’s Chelsea Sloan and Nigeria’s Siraheem. Following the release of Fifth Goodbye, Chrissy will join Nigerian music star Chike on the “Boo of the North” Canadian tour, kicking off August 29th in Toronto.
