A24 Releases Teaser For Kane Parsons’ “Backrooms”
“I found something”, says Chiwetel Ejiofor in a voiceover for the new teaser trailer of A24’s Backrooms.
Set for a May 29th theatrical release, the A24 film directed by Kane Parsons follows two people who stumble upon a strange door in the basement of a furniture showroom. The movie itself takes inspiration from Parsons’ YouTube horror series of the same which he began when he was only a teenager, since then the series has garnered over 190 million views.
Other than Parsons’ series, the premise of the Backrooms started in 2019 as a CreepyPasta that inspired numerous online stories about people no-clipping from their reality into a reality of an extradimensional expanse of empty rooms or liminal-spaces.
The release of Backrooms is sure to garner major attention since the release of the indie horror film Iron Lung which was directed by fellow YouTuber Markiplier which surpassed $43 million at the global box office.
Joining Parsons are Sons of Anarchyand Westworld writers Robert Patino and Will Soodik who provided a script for the film, producers Kori Adelson,Dan Cohen, Chris Ferguson, Dan Levine,Shawn Levy and James Wan are also involved in the film as well.
Starring alongside Ejiofor is Renate Reinsve from the rom-com The Worst Person in the World, Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell and Avan Jogia.
