Song Of Siren : Tinker Weener

Tinker Weener is quietly but decisively reshaping what modern couture looks like, and what it stands for. The Dutch-American designer and founder of Song of Siren launched her label in 2024, and in less than a year, it has emerged as one of the most compelling new voices in the luxury fashion industry. Defined by myth-infused storytelling, intricate hand craftsmanship, and a deeply intentional approach to femininity, Songs of Siren offers a powerful alternative to trend-driven design.

Before stepping into the role of founder, Weener built her career within the fashion industry, including experience at Alexander McQueen, where she worked closely alongside designers and creative teams. While immersed in the worlds others were building, Weener was quietly envisioning one of her own—rooted in the duality of strength and softness, vulnerability and desire. That vision began to materialize not in a studio, but in her living room, where she started crafting garments so striking that strangers would stop her on the street asking to buy them.

What began as a personal creative pursuit quickly evolved into a fully realized couture house. Songs of Siren operates on a small-batch model, prioritizing longevity, sustainability, and traditional craftsmanship over mass production. Each piece is designed to feel timeless rather than seasonal, with many garments featuring traditional Indian hand-beading techniques passed down through generations—an intentional nod to honoring artisans and preserving heritage.

The brand’s resonance has been immediate and far-reaching. Songs of Siren has already been embraced by women who embody confidence and individuality, including Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, and Natasha Bedingfield. These are women drawn not just to the beauty of the designs, but to the intention behind them—garments that feel powerful without being rigid and sensual without being performative.

At its core, Songs of Siren is a meditation on modern femininity. Drawing inspiration from ancient mythologies—particularly early depictions of sirens as powerful, otherworldly figures—Weener translates archetypal symbolism into contemporary silhouettes that protect rather than constrain. In doing so, she redefines power dressing for today’s woman, offering pieces that honor intuition, individuality, and presence.

As a female-led luxury brand built from instinct, resilience, and vision, Songs of Siren represents a growing shift in fashion—one where women are not only the muse, but the architect. And for Tinka Weener, this is only the beginning.

Your journey began at a global fashion house and led to launching your own couture label. What was the defining moment that made you realize it was time to build something entirely your own?

The defining moment wasn’t dramatic in the way people sometimes imagine. For most of my career, I handled the PR side of both larger and smaller fashion houses, which I really enjoyed. I always admired the designers I worked with and their ability to create entire worlds—something I dreamed of doing myself as a child. Songs of Siren had already been living in my sketchbooks and in how I thought about women, power, vulnerability, and desire.

During a flight back from Bali, I started sketching dresses I wanted to wear for a New Year’s Eve party and decided to make five samples. There wasn’t a business plan yet. After many fittings, I reached out to my Amsterdam-based friend and creative director, Indiana Vos, to build the first campaign. From there, the brand organically came to life.

Songs of Siren is deeply rooted in myth and feminine power. What narratives influence your designs most?

I’m especially drawn to early interpretations of sirens as powerful, otherworldly figures rather than passive symbols. I also work with archetypes like the sun, zodiac forms, and serpentine lines—symbols of feminine power that appear across cultures. These ideas translate into modern silhouettes through sculptural draping, corsetry that protects rather than restricts, and intricate hand-beading that feels timeless yet wearable.

Zoey: You began creating pieces in your living room, and strangers wanted to buy them. How did those early moments shape your confidence?

Tinker: At the start, I was simply designing what I wanted to wear. I couldn’t find the perfect dress for a meaningful night out—something festive, sexy, and well-made without feeling cheap or unattainable. When I wore my early samples out, women constantly approached me asking where they were from. That reaction gave me the confidence to treat this seriously and build a brand instead of viewing it as a hobby.

Zoey: What were the biggest challenges of transitioning to a self-funded, small-batch brand?

Tinker: Overcoming my own fear of failure. I’m a perfectionist, and I can easily get lost in refining details, then hesitate to share my work. Having incredibly supportive women in my life helped me trust my intuition and keep moving forward, even when things felt uncertain.

Zoey: Your designs resonate with accomplished women. Why do you think that is?

Tinker: I think they connect with the confidence and intentionality behind the work. Each piece is designed to feel powerful without being rigid and sensual without being performative. There’s a balance of strength, intuition, and individuality—a kind of modern siren energy—that resonates with women who know who they are.

Zoey: Sustainability is central to Songs of Siren. Why was that important from the beginning?

Tinker: From the start, I wanted to honor the people and processes behind the garments. That’s why we shot a campaign in Mumbai with an all-Indian team, highlighting the artisans and culture behind our hand-beading techniques. Small-batch production allows for care, intention, and longevity. For me, longevity is inseparable from sustainability.

Zoey: As a female-led luxury brand, how do you see Songs of Siren contributing to women’s leadership in fashion?

Tinker:I see it as part of a broader shift toward intuitive, values-driven leadership. We prioritize craftsmanship, collaboration, ethics, and long-term thinking over speed and excess. I want to lead with intention and create a space where creativity and artistry are protected.

Zoey: What do you hope women feel when they wear Songs of Siren?

Tinker: I want them to feel as powerful as they already are, while embracing the true power of their femininity. My reimagining of power dressing is about softness as strength—using embroidery, silk, and feminine colors to redefine authority on our own terms.

For Women’s History Month, Tinka Weener’s journey stands as a compelling example of resilience, intuition, and creative courage. Moving from an established fashion career to a self-funded couture house, she proves that there is no singular path to success—only the willingness to begin and the determination to continue.

Songs of Siren is more than a luxury label; it is a philosophy rooted in storytelling, sustainability, and the celebration of feminine power. As Weener continues to thoughtfully grow the brand, she offers a powerful reminder that when women lead with intention, vision, and integrity, they don’t just follow trends; they create legacies.
