LOVERBOY’s Prepared Piano: Fashion in Full Volume

Charles Jeffery LOVERBOY brought a bold new sound to London Fashion Week with Prepared Piano, the SS26 collection staged inside the iconic Abbey Road Studios. More than just a fashion show, it was a live and unscripted performance blending together the magic of music, fashion, and art.

LOVERBOY Turns Sound into Style

The SS26 collection inspired by composer John Cage, and his technique of altering a piano with different objects in order to make unexpected sounds. Following the same idea, LOVERBOY “prepared” fashion by transforming traditional silhouettes into something more unpredictable. Tailored shirts with built-in ties, bottoms stitched with illusions of a belt, warped sunglasses, and oversized lab coats. Each piece was unique and an illusion to the mind. Each design felt like a illusion, familiar yet intriguingly distorted.

Reimagining Abbey Road

Reaching into the archive of Abbey Road, Jeffery reimagined characters from its history through a Gen Z lens.  Think rockstars with flared sleeves, scientist technicians in oversized lab coats, and modern-day producers in fuzzy hats. Joining the performance, modern figures such as, Allie X, Planningtorock, Genesis Webb, Lyas, and Francesco Risso lounged, performed, and experimented in the studios. Overall, transforming the studio into a lively mix of fashion and music.

Not a Runway, But a Recording

Instead of a traditional runway show, the event captured improvised performances, experimental sound sessions, and many other candid moments. The audio recorded throughout the day was then turned into an EP and a free music plugin, available to worldwide producer alongside the launch of the collection.

LOVERBOY: A New Way to Wear Sound

“In 2025, fashion for fashion’s sake feels vulgar,” says Jeffrey. Prepared Piano is his answer: fashion driven by creativity, collaboration, and sound. The collection asks, What does fashion sound like? and invites the audience to find out.

With Prepared Piano, LOVERBOY shows that fashion is more than just something you wear. It is something you hear, feel, and experience. It is fashion as sound, movement, and expression—brought to life with bold energy and creative imagination.
