“Evil Dead” Icon Bruce Campbell Announces Cancer Diagnoses

Bruce Campbell, known for his role in The Evil Dead franchise,has been diagnosed with cancer.

The horror icon made the announcement on his social media where he said he was diagnosed with a “treatable”, not curable, form of cancer.

“I apologize if that’s a shock – it was to me too,” Campbell stated in his social media post.

“The good news is, I’m not gonna go into any more detail,” he continued. “I’m posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change – appearances and cons and work in general need to take a back seat to treatment. My plan is to get as well as I possibly can over the summer so that I can tour with my new movie Ernie & Emma this fall.”

Campbell then concluded his post by sending love to his fans and telling them that he will remain strong throughout the treatment process by stating, “I am a tough old son-of-a-bitch and I have great support.”

Campbell made his acting debut as Ash Williams in the Sam Rami 1981 horror movie The Evil Dead, along with its sequels Evil Dead II & Army of Darkness. He would later reprise his iconic role in the TV series Ash vs. Evil Dead in 2015.

Along with his iconic character, Campbell has starred in other works such as Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules along with numerous iconic cameos in Sam Rami films such as Spider-Man 1-3, Oz the Great and Powerful & Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
