Wasia Project Share New Single “Letters from the Day”

Wasia Project, the musical duo formed by siblings Will Gao and Olivia Hardy, share a new single “Letters From The Day,” their first musical offering since 2024’s Isotope EP.

Produced with frequent collaborator St. Francis Hotel, “Letters From The Day” showcases Wasia Project at their most vulnerable and expansive. Built around atmospheric piano and intricate percussion work, the song evokes the wistfulness of twilight reflections and the bittersweet beauty of yearning. Olivia’s vocals glide and swell, crafting a sonic landscape that is both intimate and grand in scale. Echoes of jazz, art-pop and chamber music blend effortlessly, creating a textured soundscape that feels timeless and immediate. With this single, Wasia Project continues to blur genre lines while deepening their emotional palette–a hallmark of their evolving, boundary-pushing sound.

Wasia Project says of the single: “‘Letters From The Day’ is a song about not wanting someone to leave your life, or to be left behind and forgotten by them. It’s a desperate plea to a lover to stay and fight for a relationship.”

The release arrives following a landmark summer of live performances in 2025, with the duo appearing at Governors Ball (NYC), Lollapalooza (Chicago) and Outside Lands (San Francisco). These festival sets introduced “Letters From The Day” to audiences for the first time, where it quickly became a standout moment in their live show and signalled the beginning of an exciting new creative chapter.

“Letters From The Day” follows 2024’s acclaimed Isotope EP, which included singles “Is This What Love Is?” and “Takes Me Back Home,” and its accompanying short film. This followed a series of singles released in 2023: the poignant ballad “Remember When,” the exquisitely moving “My Lover Is Sleeping,” which was accompanied by a dreamlike animated visual by Patrick Atkins, and indie-pop gem “Petals on the Moon,” a live favorite amongst the band’s fervent young fanbase. Will is also known for his role as Tao Xu in Netflix LGBTQI+ smash hit drama series Heartstopper and their breakout hit “ur so pretty” featured in the pivotal scene of the second series season finale.

Following a standout year on the road, Wasia Project’s strong touring activity has previously seen them sell out a 7-date UK headline tour, including London’s Kentish Town Forum, and support Tom Odell on his EU tour. Their debut U.S. tour supporting Laufey was followed by sold-out headline shows in Los Angeles and New York.

Formed in 2019, Wasia Project’s mixed British-Asian heritage and classical training have inspired them to have a global approach to pop, which dynamically melds styles and influences that cut across genre lines — and even entire hemispheres of musical tradition. In their songs, hushed bedroom DIY combines with classical intellect, in a merging that’s underpinned by the duo’s deep knowledge of distinct musical styles. The resonance of Olivia’s vocals are comparable to Rickie Lee Jones and Joni Mitchell in richness and maturity, and the band’s melodic complexity and achingly heartfelt lyricism channels the spirit of artists like Mitski, Weyes Blood, Angel Olsen and Aldous Harding, who they cite as influences on their sound.  The band have been championed by the likes of British VogueNME, The Guardian, NPR, GQ, DIY and Rolling Stone.
