TxC Drop Catchy New Afrobeats Track
TxC, the musical duo made up of the South African artists Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke, have dropped their new single “Bom Bom” with artists Scotts Maphuma, Pheelz, and Al Xapo. This is the first single off of their upcoming EP, and contains the artists’ trademark fusion of Amapiano and Afrobeats. The pair, having just received the BET Award for Best New International Act, went on the record about their recent release: “With ‘Bom Bom,” we set out to push the boundaries of Amapiano and Afrobeats, blending our influences into something bold and fresh. This single marks a defining moment for us, and we’re incredibly proud of the sound and statement it makes.”
TxC has an undeniably consistent and recognizable sound and aesthetic; already having caught the attention of Africa’s music scene, the pair are now set-up for international recognition, and seem to be bringing their characteristic sound with them. Already having two critically acclaimed EPs (2022’s “A Fierce Piano” and 2024’s “Turn Off the Lights”) and collaborations with some of the most popular stars across the continent, the duo engage in not only music production, but vibe curation— with beats that would be fit for a festival or a house party. The two are signed to LVRN Records, based in Atlanta and known for situating itself within the rich musical history of the South while simultaneously bringing these voices to modern pop. The international appeal of singers like Summer Walker and 6LACK illustrate the notoriety of the company.
The track itself is catchy, with a stunning visualizer that further sinks the viewer/listener into the mood of the song. There’s something quite hypnotic about the way the instruments and vocals blend together to create one seamless voice— a voice that reflects the dreams of the artists and the sound of a continent.
