Sexyy Red Pops It “For No Reason”
With high-profile collaborations, festival performances, and movie soundtrack appearances in the rearview mirror, Sexyy Red has enjoyed her stay atop hip-hop’s A-List this year. The proud St. Louis native returns to one of her favorite topics with “For No Reason,” her propulsive new single and music video. Produced by Truebeatzz and ZachOnTheTrack, “For No Reason” finds Sexyy tapping back into her Midwest roots, rhyming over racing piano arpeggios, tolling bells, and insistent handclaps. Big Sexyy directs traffic, using a double-time flow to instruct her fans to get as ratchet as they can: “I like ratchet b*tches, shake that ass for no reason,” she spits. In the video, directed by Shammond Shorter with creative direction by Sexyy herself, the rapper jets to Japan, where she parties at renowned Tokyo gentleman’s club Madam Woo, making friends with the staff and rubbing shoulders with fellow celebrities like A Boogie.
“For No Reason” continues Sexyy’s 2025 run of singles, most recently “Is You Coo,” a seductive and authoritative new trap banger. Earlier in the year, Sexyy connected with Bruno Mars for “Fat Juicy & Wet” (#18 Billboard Hot 100 peak, #1 on Urban Radio). To date, “Fat Juicy & Wet” has garnered hundreds of millions of streams across platforms, including 45 million views on the YouTube video, featuring cameos from Lady Gaga and LISA.
Sexyy Red had a blazing hot summer in 2025. One of hip-hop’s most in-demand artists, Sexyy collaborated with dozens of artists this summer alone, uniting with Justin Bieber on “SWEET SPOT,” a highlight from his new album SWAG, which debuted at #57 on the week’s Billboard Hot 100, and teamed with other high-profile artists like Central Cee, Snoop Dogg, Jessie Murph, Maroon 5, Gucci Mane, and Pluto. Sexyy and superstar DJ Tiësto released “OMG,” a song from the hit soundtrack to summer blockbuster F1: The Movie, and she walked the red carpet at the 2025 American Music Awards, where she earned two nominations (“Favorite Female Hip-Hop Artist,” “Favorite Hip-Hop Song” for “Whatcha Know Bout Me” w/ GloRilla). Sexyy’s honors kept on coming, as Billboard named Sexyy the “Indie Rapper of the Year” at their annual Indie Power Players event.
Sexyy is working hard on the follow-up to 2024’s hit mixtape In Sexyy We Trust, looking to build upon a year that featured her career highlight singles “Get It Sexyy,” “U My Everything,” and “Rich Baby Daddy,” all leading to her debut at Coachella in 2026. Stay tuned for much more from the Northside St. Louis princess very soon.
