NYLON Unveils Inaugural “Dance 100” List Celebrating the DJs Shaping Global Dance Culture
Dance music has never been more culturally dominant, and now NYLON is putting a spotlight on the artists shaping that momentum. The publication has announced the launch of its first-ever NYLON House Dance 100 — an annual list celebrating the DJs and producers influencing the sound, culture, and future of global electronic music.
Set to debut on March 19, the list marks a major milestone for NYLON House, the magazine’s newest editorial vertical dedicated to dance music and nightlife culture. For a brand long associated with youth culture, fashion, and music, the expansion into dance feels like a natural evolution — one that reflects the genre’s growing impact worldwide.
NYLON House first signaled its presence late last year with events and programming featuring artists like Adriatique and SOFI TUKKER, highlighting the publication’s renewed focus on electronic music as more than just a trend. Instead, NYLON is positioning the genre as a defining cultural force that continues to shape how audiences gather, celebrate, and experience music.
What sets the Dance 100 apart from many music rankings is how it was curated. Rather than relying on fan votes or purely data-driven algorithms, the list was created through an industry-led judging process. NYLON invited more than 100 dance music professionals from around the world to participate, including promoters, label executives, managers, publicists, talent buyers, and media voices who work closely within the electronic music space.
More than sixty judges ultimately took part in the final scoring process, offering both professional insight and cultural perspective. Artists were evaluated using a 1-to-10 scoring system across six categories: streaming impact, live presence, cultural influence and virality, audience reach and engagement, artistic innovation, and professional standing within the industry.
The result is meant to capture a snapshot of the current moment in dance music. Judges were encouraged to focus on artists who are actively shaping the conversation right now — those whose recent work, performances, and creative vision are pushing the genre forward.
Equally important to the process was transparency. To ensure credibility, NYLON is publicly acknowledging every judge who contributed to the list, a move that adds accountability while recognizing the professionals behind the scenes who help build the dance music ecosystem. The publication also limited participation to one judge per agency or organization to maintain balance across the industry.
As electronic music continues to expand across festival stages, global nightlife hubs, streaming platforms, and digital culture, the NYLON House Dance 100 aims to reflect that evolving landscape. From established icons to rising artists gaining momentum online and on tour, the list is designed to represent the many voices and sounds shaping dance music today.
The full NYLON House Dance 100 will be revealed on March 19 on NYLON.com, with additional editorial features, interviews, and cultural programming expected to roll out across NYLON House platforms in the weeks that follow.
With the launch of the Dance 100, NYLON isn’t just celebrating dance music — it’s helping document the artists and movements driving the genre’s next chapter.
