Major Lazer Share “BRUK DOWN”
Major Lazer launch a new era of genre-bending, boundary-pushing global sounds today with “BRUK DOWN,” an electric fusion of dancehall and leftfield dance music featuring breakout vocal performances from newly-enlisted Major Lazer frontwoman America Foster and choreographer-turned-artist Parris Goebel, alongside Toronto rising star SadBoi.
The chemistry and collective charisma of Parris Goebel, America Foster and SadBoi oozes from a track that’s at once sublimely sexy, seasonably spooky, and supremely danceable. Notably, “BRUK DOWN” sees both America Foster making her debut feature as Major Lazer’s First Lady, as well as Parris Goebel stepping into the artist spotlight with her debut for Diplo‘s Mad Decent label.
Parris Goebel—the Auckland, New Zealand-raised choreographer and director known for her work with Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Doja Cat, among many others, as well as her Emmy-winning choreography for Rihanna’s annual Savage x Fenty Show—also co-directed the “BRUK DOWN” video with multi-disciplinary creative director and visual artist Philippa Price (Rihanna, Pharrell, St. Vincent), adding a striking new chapter to Major Lazer’s surreal visual universe.
America Foster, Parris Goebel and SadBoi star in the clip as a trio of road-tripping badgyals traveling through a Southern Gothic wilderness when they encounter a debaucherous, late-night gas-station rendezvous and seek help from Major Lazer men Walshy Fire, Diplo and Ape Drums, incognito as a trio of trailer park residents in wizard gear.
America Foster is a British-Jamaican artist, model, content creator, and all-around entertainer who was working as a security guard in London when she sent Diplo a handful of her freestyles via Instagram DM and met him at a gig in the U.K. Blown away, he invited her to his studio in Jamaica to record what would become “BRUK DOWN” exactly one year ago today, and soon enlisted her as a full-fledged Major Lazer member. Having only ever freestyled as a party trick previously, America has honed her skills in the studio with Diplo and the Lazer crew to define a new era for the the iconic, multi-platinum and diamond-charting music juggernaut, quickly impressing fans through electrifying freestyles on Capital XTRA and Apple Music Radio. Her Capital XTRA freestyle became an official remix of Lazer’s long-awaited single “GANGSTA” featuring Busy Signal and Kybba.
America commands the spotlight in her first-ever music video appearance, bringing her arresting physical presence and boundless personality to the forefront of “BRUK DOWN.” Major Lazer fans can expect to see much more of America Foster soon as she takes on a prominent role in the group’s upcoming projects and joins the group on upcoming tour dates, which include a return to Coachella after ten years on April 12 and 19, 2026, and a headlining set at Ultra Music Festival in March.
“‘BRUK DOWN’ started as a freestyle,” says America Foster. “The vibe that I got from the beat was sensual but rude at the same time—it had this badgyal energy that I really liked. But it’s when Diplo sent the track to SadBoi for her verse and Parris Goebel for her bridge that it all came together, and now we have ‘BRUK DOWN.’ I hope you all enjoy it as much as we had fun creating it.”
“I’ve been dancing and creating to Major Lazer tracks for years now so this collaboration is so full circle for me,” adds Parris Goebel. “There’s always something so infectious and fun about the sound of Major Lazer that makes you want to dance — to now be on a song with them is so exciting and feels right. We want the world to dance and be free!” Speaking on the video, Goebel adds: “We were literally just three friends having the time of our lives doing the most random, unhinged shit. We were spontaneous and playful and let the energy of the song drive us through the world. All three of us have such big personalities, and we really played with that —and I feel that shows in the video. Those are my girls… I’m excited to be sharing this moment with them.”
Founded to further Diplo’s studio experimentation and celebrate a lifelong love of Caribbean music, Major Lazer has become one of the most successful groups of all time. The global-pop kings have dominated the charts with hits including the Diamond-certified “Lean On,” 4x Platinum-certified “Cold Water” and 2x Platinum-certified “Light It Up.” Their collaborations include Beyoncé, J Balvin, Nicki Minaj, WizKid, El Alfa, Burna Boy, Travis Scott, Ariana Grande and many more. A live juggernaut, the group has blown minds on tour and at festivals around the world for more than fifteen years. In 2024, Major Lazer celebrated the fifteenth anniversary of their seminal 2009 debut album, Guns Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do.
After a brief hiatus, Major Lazer has returned to the road since summer, rolling out new music in unconventional ways—like premiering tracks on Kai Cenat’s Mafiathon 3 stream, hosting studio sessions on Twitch, and popping up for surprise live shows at college fraternities in the USA and public spaces in Europe like the Grand-Place in Brussels and the London tunnel where they unveiled “GANGSTA” with Busy Signal in August. More new music from Major Lazer is imminent.
