Karri Has A Slo-Mo Romance In Lush “slauson ave” Single
Exploring every angle of modern love with deep sensitivity and a West Coast swag, rising Bay Area singer-songwriter Karri is a master of late night R&B. Getting in his feelings to deliver a gauzy piano ballad, the 21-year-old San Francisco native treats his fans to “slauson ave,” his new single. Named after the L.A. boulevard with a significant hip-hop history from Dr. Dre to Nipsey Hussle, the song finds the artist romancing a girl with deep blue eyes, his rich baritone quavering as he pledges his devotion. By the end of the song, Karri and his beloved are drowning in desire, the song chopping and screwing until the world stops turning. “slauson ave” arrives with a romantic music video, in which Karri heads to L.A.’s Slauson Ave and romances a beautiful woman. Sampled by Ye and King Combs on their recent song “REPEAT ME,” Karri’s “slauson ave” is available on all platforms via Playing for Legacy (PFL)
“Working on ‘Slauson Ave.’ just came about with me and the piano,” says Karri. “I had the idea of saying eyes like Slauson for a while. It was a play on words saying a girl had blue eyes, I just thought it was really dope. I was in San Francisco with Thomas [Madynski] and we just locked in and finished the song that night.”
A fixture on the R&B scene since releasing his viral 2023 hit “3AM In Oakland,” Karri is ready to level up this year. With over 13 million streams on Spotify alone, “3AM In Oakland” bubbled up on TikTok, helping propel Karri to more than 200k followers and earnng the attention of tastemakers like Drake and his associate OVO Chubbs. The strength of “3AM In Oakland” helped convince Chubbs to sign Karri to his Playing For Legacy label. In 2024, Karri continued to rack up co-signs (from Lil Baby, Kehlani, Saweetie, and more) and develop his sound, releasing the Late Night Slider Music EP in November. Home to “Oakland Pt. 2” (2.2 million views), the sequel to his breakout hit, Late Night Slider Music earned attention from Billboard, who named Karri the R&B Rookie of the Month for January and anointed him an Artist To Watch for 2025.
Earlier this year, Karri has kept the streets hot by releasing collaborations, including “Suede,” a song with P-Lo and Goapele from P-Lo’s For The Soil mixtape, an official release by the Golden State Warriors, “Hesitation,” a collab with Joe Kay of Soulection, and “Cheeky,” a duet with fellow riser Jack Dine. Karri is currently on tour with his close friend Isaiah Falls, who guests on Karri’s next single “Oakland Baby,” as direct support on Isaiah’s “LVRS Paradise Tour.” Most recently, Karri was announced as a performer at Wireless Festival in the UK, taking the stage on Friday, July 11th.
