Jon Bellion Is Back To Making Music But On His Own Terms
American singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer Jon Bellion has been on a subtle climb since his 2013 emergence. You may know Bellion from his 2016 hit “All Time Low” or his feature on Zedd’s 2015 single “Beautiful Now.”
Since then, Jon Bellion has been keeping busy working with artists like the Jonas Brothers, rising star Tori Kelly, and Justin Beiber on their respective albums: for the Jonas Brothers, Happiness Begins, Tori Kelly with her self titled album which has a song featured by Bellion, and for Justin Bieber his Justice album.
With being so involved with other artists’ music, it makes you wonder how he had time to make his own music during that time.
Well, the versatile artist was going through a hiatus from making music while he was helping with other artists because he was trying to get out of his contract with Visionary Music Group. It was a small label with only three artists including himself, Logic and Quest. It took Bellion six years to get out his contract. 2024 was the year he was able to finally able to be released and immediately started his own label called Beautiful Mind Records. On top of that, Jon Bellion signed Tori Kelly to the label after working with her.
“The Tori Kelly situation…She approached me and wanted to work on some music, and I was like ‘you’re not signed?'” Bellion said on the George Janko Podcast.
Following the creation of the label, Bellion got back into making his own music and released his first single on his own terms and titled it “Kid Again.” The song represents him finally being released from the label and feeling like that kid again where you have that feeling that anything is possible. Bellion didn’t stop there though, on March 21st, he released another single titled “WASH.”
With singles coming out more frequently and Beautiful Mind Records almost being a year in, many fans feel and believe that there may be an album in the works sometime soon. The last album Bellion made that was his was Glory Sound Prep, and that was created in 2018, almost seven years ago.
