J. Vito, of the Grammy-nominated viral R&B/Soul trio The Ton3s, shares his new EP Covers From The Couch. With fun and inventive new covers of classic R&B hits such as Tevin Campbell‘s “Can We Talk”, Case‘s “Missing You” and more, the five-track EP serves as the perfect soundtrack for Valentine’s Day.
“I’ve always wanted to record a collection of covers, because it’s like I’m inviting everybody into my world. I get to let people hear what I feel when it comes to certain songs. I get to make the song my own, my moment… The title of this EP is a bit of a play on words. It started with me singing covers on social media reels from my couch, so I decided to make the title just that. The cover art is a picture of a blanket draped over a couch and that’s what I’m giving you: ‘Covers From The Couch’. My goal was to just have fun with this one. I’m open to suggestions of what other songs to cover next!” – J. Vito

James Darrell Tillman Jr.– known to the world as J. Vito –was born in the town of Cheraw, South Carolina. Fondly called J.J. (James Jr.) by his family and friends, J.Vito spent his formative years in Anson County, North Carolina. His musical journey began at an early age, influenced by his father’s role as a pastor and singer in the singing quartet The Voices Of Harmony. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, J. Vito shadowed his father, developing his vocal talent and honing his skills on the piano and drums in church.
In January 2010, J. Vito’s musical career took a significant leap when he became a backup vocalist for renowned R&B singer Anthony Hamilton. His talent and dedication cemented his spot in Hamilton’s backup vocal ensemble, eventually dubbed The Hamiltones. After earning a Grammy nomination alongside Hamilton, the sensational trio of backup singers now known as The Ton3s took on a life of their own, going viral, collaborating with artists such as Snoop Dogg and Tori Kelly, and releasing several projects.
J.Vito has also established himself as a remarkable solo artist who continues to inspire and entertain with captivating performances and music that is deeply rooted in gospel, enriched with elements of R&B and various other genres. His soulful sound resonates with listeners of all ages, creeds, and colors, bringing life to any stage or audience.
