India Shawn Returns With Highly Anticipated Single, Kill Switch
India Shawn returns with a highly anticipated music video and genre-defying single, Kill Switch, on June 13th. Between Shawn’s alluring vocals and expressive imagery, Kill Switch is the perfect representation of liberation personified.
Kill Switch music video starring India Shawn and co-starring actor and musician, Luke James, showcases a relationship plagued by unfortunate events, ultimately terminating any attempt to hold a romantic relationship. In the opening scene, Shawn and James seem to be having a heated argument before their car flips over into a movie scene. It is clear that no matter what happens, the relationship will not pull through.
Specifically, Shawn writes “We can’t put back the hearts that we break…In the shadows is where they lay.” Shawn aims to tell a familiar story of two friends who are falling for each other but are afraid to pose the risk towards their friendship. Becoming lovers “could turn from a good thing to hate.”
As more tragedies unfold despite the pair’s constant attempts to ignite the relationship flame, Shawn is left to deal with the reality of loss in coming to terms with a fleeting relationship.
Kill Switch is a collaborative masterpiece, written by India Shawn, Varren Wade, D’Mile, Livvy Bennett and Michael Benjamin Hunter. These lyricists seamlessly encapsulated the relatable feelings catered towards being afraid to love.
Kill Switch is an infectious tune, using guitars and drums to emphasize the passion from India Shawn’s beautiful voice. The heavenly harmonies are layered within one another, allowing the audience to appreciate the time and effort put into the creation of the song. As mentioned earlier, this genre-defying piece does not fit into any box. It is simply its own take on the difficulty that many of us face. Therefore, Kill Switch is very deserving of a 5/5 rating.
