Rising R&B artist, producer, and songwriter Gabriel Jacoby has officially released his highly anticipated debut EP, gutta child, out now via PULSE Records. Listen HERE. Alongside the EP, Gabriel has also shared the music video for “bootleg,” featuring legendary Tampa MC Tom. G, paying homage to his hometown.
gutta child arrives on the heels of Gabriel’s official EP announcement last week, when he introduced the project with a cinematic trailer on Instagram that highlights the fighting spirit at the core of the record. gutta child is a raw and soulful body of work that fuses blues, funk, Florida krank, and R&B into a singular Southern identity, tracing Jacoby’s journey from growing up in the ghettos of Tampa, Florida, and Anderson, South Carolina, to finding peace and purpose through music. The debut EP captures the resilience and spirit of an artist coming into his own, moving through eras of his life with honesty and pride.
“For my first ever body of work, I wanted to introduce myself both with honesty and with sonics that felt like a refreshing culmination of the music I love from blues, to funk, to dirty south era hiphop, to R&B. I’ve never wanted to be another derivative or a bootleg version of the artists I love – I wanted to be purely me – and it’s taken me about a decade to develop a sound and skillset that I confidently say accomplishes that. I also wanted the world to hear this body of work and know who I am as a person – a proud southerner who has been raised in the ghettos of South Carolina and Tampa, and a lover of music who has insistently pursued perfection and authenticity in my work,” says Gabriel.
From the triumphant opener “hello” and the title track’s proud Southern homage, to the bluesy rebellion of “same sign” and “bootleg,” and the vivid storytelling of “dirty south baby,” Jacoby builds a world that feels both grounded and transcendent. Recent singles “baby” and “the one” reveal his more mature, introspective side, while “be careful” closes the collection with a timeless sense of reflection. With gutta child, Jacoby cements himself as one of R&B’s most promising voices — a self-produced multi-instrumentalist whose unfiltered storytelling and distinctly Southern perspective embody authenticity, vulnerability, and groove. The eight-track project marks a landmark year for Gabriel, during which he was named one of Shazam’s Fast Forward Artists, sat down with Travis Mills on Apple Music, co-wrote Shaboozey’s “Chrome – Bonus,” and opened sold-out shows for both DWLLRS and Dizzy Fae at The Echo in Los Angeles. Additionally, Gabriel is currently touring with Khamari as direct support across all dates nationwide of the sold-out TO DRY A TEAR North American tour, with upcoming stops in Brooklyn, Chicago, and more, before wrapping up in Los Angeles on December 2.
