Camilo Releases Single, “Maldito ChatGPT”, Embracing Indecision
Singer and songwriter, Camilo, released his new heart-pulling single “Maldito ChatGPT” on June 25th. “Maldito ChatGPT” paints the painful picture of not quite knowing in a world that is equipped with the material to find answers quickly, better known as ChatGPT. This poetic melody is raw and honest, revealing the harsh reality of being enamored by the idea of love but too impatient to be vulnerable, something ChatGPT is unable to provide for us. Between Camilo’s imaginative storytelling and the utility of his pop-meets-folk sound, it is easy to connect with the feelings displayed.

“Maldito ChatGPT” is the embodiment of irony, where Camilo relies heavily on ChatGPT for clarity but cannot seem to satisfy his hunger of inquisition despite ChatGPT being “all-knowing.”
This intricate detail is imperative in the overall message of the tune. “We live surrounded by quick answers. By formulas designed to avoid failure. By technologies that predict and know everything. By ideas about what love is supposed to look like,” Camilo shares.
Inevitably, Camilo says, “…There’s something that doesn’t fit into any logic. Or any checklist. Love isn’t a casting call. Love is something you feel. And nothing – and no one – can ever feel it for us.”
Camilo further depicts this in his music video directed by Evaluna Montaner and Sebastian Andrade at El Taller Creativo in Miami. This ode to the cult classic, Office Space, showcases Camilo in a messy environment surrounded by papers on the floor and post-it notes on the wall. The dim office plays into the chaos Camilo feels inside, stuck in the loop of indecision.

The song recites, “Tú no eres pa mi…Me lo dijo ChatGPT” (Translated to: “You’re not for me…That’s what ChatGPT told me.” Camilo successfully articulates his feelings while allowing the audience to question our reliance on technology to alleviate feelings that only we are capable of feeling.
Colombian musician and 6x Latin Grammy award winner, Camilo, is clearly well-deserving of his accolades. With such impactful work, like “Maldito ChatGPT”, fans are sure to be satisfied by his discography. “Maldito ChatGPT” incorporates meaning deeper than the surface and enticing melodies, marking this single as a 9/10.
