Backline Launches Its Mental Health Support Line

Backline has officially launched its 24/7 mental health and crisis support line. Known as B-LINE, the support line helps connect music professionals and their families with trained counselors who understand the unique pressures of working in and around music.

To celebrate this pioneering lifeline, Backline gathered with donors and supporters at Irving Plaza in New York City during the evening of the support lines launch on January 27. The event featured heartfelt speeches by Backline Executive Director Hilary Gleason, Spotify’s Senior Vice President/Global Head of Music Charlie Hellman and Live Nation’s Head of Clubs Maggie Gessnar.

The event also featured musical performances by Mimi Naja, Steve Earle, Cautious Clay, Joy Oladokun and Melt as well as a final DJ performance by Questlove.

Since the launch of B-LINE nearly 80 people have already been assisted, to Gleason this response shows just how much this resource is needed.

“People reached out not just to look for help, but to say thank you for building something that truly understands our world,” she shared.

B-LINE’s mission is to ensure that anyone who works within the music industry – whether that be artists, crew, staff, executive and even family members of those within the industry – can access immediate 24/7 confidential support with seamless transition into long-term care.
