Anella Releases New Single “Over Again”
After dropping “Still Got Love 4 U” as a special surprise for fans the other week, today Anella shares “Over Again,” the second single from his upcoming project Ask Me How I’ve Been slated for a spring release. It’s a guitar-led country-pop track that captures the cycle people (guilty) know all too well: continuing to reconnect with a lover he knows he shouldn’t but always does.
I especially love the way the instrumental builds throughout the song on this one, it really complements Anella’s melodic delivery and vulnerable songwriting. Built around layered guitar, subtle piano, and atmospheric touches, the song unfolds dynamically as drums trickle in, fully appearing when the beat drops during the chorus, drop out, and return throughout, mirroring the emotional push-and-pull at the heart of the song.
Lyrically, “Over Again” tells the story of a late-night rendezvous fueled by liquid courage. A woman from Anella’s past reaches out on a night when they’re both drinking, admitting feelings she usually keeps buried, and the two meet up and give in to each other once again. They swear it’ll be the last time, but the liquid courage always kicks in, the truth comes out, and they end up right back together: “It sounds like that bottle’s getting to you… I know I shouldn’t want you like I do, let this liquor spill that truth.”
“Over Again” is Anella’s newest single, building momentum toward his upcoming project and arriving after a milestone 2025 that included his first-ever headlining tour, the Crashing This Party Tour.
