Rhythm And Blues Star Ari Lennox Releases New Single, “Under The Moon”
Rhythm and blues star Ari Lennox released an electrifying and hauntingly beautiful single, “Under the Moon,” on October 29 via Interscope Records.
Directed by Erik Rojas and just in time for Halloween, the music video captures Lennox and her date flirting across a late-night diner.
As the full moon rises, Lennox’s suitor displays increasingly erratic behavior. His eyes turn radiantly blue. His nails grow long and curved. His teeth become fangs. And he orders a burger without buns, lettuce, or tomatoes: pure meat.
“He was sweet / To a T / Beggin’ me / For a treat,” she croons, with a surprisingly calm demeanor. “Oh, felt a suspicious mystique. / Somethin’s giving me the creeps.”
As the moon weaves in and out of the clouds above, Lennox’s suitor tries to hide the signs of his creepy transformation. He retracts his nails. He blinks until his eyes return to their normal brown color. But something’s interested Lennox.
When she grins, her teeth are curved fangs, too.
When the moon and the tension reach their peak, her suitor becomes a wolf. But Lennox flips the script and transforms, too. She becomes a werewolf who joins her soulmate in running across the city and howling at the moon.
“Under the moon / With you / So majestic,” she sings. She and her suitor jump loosely from building to building, above the human world, where the moon shines in its full splendor. “Somethin’ isn’t right / Sayin’ awoo! / Say it!”
Ultimately, she and her soulmate show that they rule the city. They aren’t frightened by their transformation; they’re liberated by it.
“Under the Moon” is a preview of Lennox’s third studio album, “Vacancy,” set for release on January 23, 2026. “Vacancy” is sure to be another gem for one of this generation’s brightest R&B stars and a milestone in Lennox’s musical journey.
