Raye Recovers Lost Notebooks With Original Songs Inside
Earlier this year, singer-songwriter Raye had her car stolen with notebooks of music and lyrics inside. Recently, the police recovered her car and the notebooks and gave both back to the singer.
On The EE Official Big Top 40, Raye said, “It was a rollercoaster journey, but what I didn’t tell everyone is the police called me maybe two or three months ago, and they were like, ‘We found your car.’ Not only did I get it back, not one thing had been taken out of the car. All my songwriting books were there, untouched. Everything ended well.”
She added, “Never give up hope.”
Raye burst into the music scene in 2023 with her single “Escapism.” Since then, she has written music for Beyoncé, Charli XCX, John Legend, Little Mix, and Halle. She served as an opening act for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in August 2024.
In an interview with Variety, she said: “I had a lot of brilliant poems and titles and phrases and words. I was starting to explore the idea of writing the lyrics to melodies.”
Lyrics, in her opinion, are harder to write than melodies.
“When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade,” she said. “Losing and winning and trying and failing only to try again, it’s a part of life.”
Even though she lost her notebooks, she didn’t stop writing. She debuted two new tracks at the Glastonbury Festival 2025, including “Where Is My Husband!”. Her full second album will be released in 2026. Raye’s drive to keep going will serve her well in the ups and downs of a career in entertainment.
But every now and then, luck strikes. “And then maybe by a miracle, you get to succeed every now and then. I will relentlessly pursue creating music that I love,” she noted.
Now that she has her notebooks back, she’s sure to reach new heights of musical success.
