Tottenham aim for Premier League glory

It’s been almost a month since the summer transfer window opened in Europe. Many clubs have made vital moves to help better their squad. However, one club that isn’t talked about enough is Tottenham.

Last season, Tottenham started off slow with a 5-5 record in their first 10 games. That start led to the sacking of Portuguese manager Nuno Espírito Santo and the hiring of world-class manager Antonio Conte, as he would sign an 18-month contract with the option of a further year.

When Conte was appointed to be the new manager, Tottenham received better results, which led to them finishing in the top four of the Premier League league table, sitting in the fourth-ranked spot to help them clinch a Champions League spot for next season.

After the 2021-22 Premier League season was finished, Conte opted to stay at Tottenham for another season, which was a massive win for the club to be able to maintain their guy for the future.

Since the start of the summer transfer window, Tottenham has not settled for less, as they have focused on improving their squad to contend in the Premier League for the following season.

In sports, good teams are usually okay with what they have. However, great teams don’t settle for less and aim to better their team every year to help them reach their goals, which is what Tottenham is trying to do.

Tottenham started their transfer window by signing left winger Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan on a two-year deal. The Croatian finished with eight goals and seven assists in the Serie A last year as he adds depth to the left side for the North London squad.

After that, Tottenham went on to find a way to help bolster their midfield as they signed 25-year-old Yves Bissouma from Brighton Hove & Albion until 2026 on a £25m fee. Bissouma was not only one of the best players on his former squad but also proved to be one of the top defensive midfielders in the Premier League. Bissouma has a career tackle success rate of 64%, along with 168 ball interceptions, 645 duels won, 166 successful 50/50s, 653 recoveries, and only one error in his career has led to a goal. Bissouma’s physicality and defensive presence should impact Tottenham while playing in the midfield.

The most recent and one of the biggest signings of the summer transfer window so far that Tottenham made was when they were able to snatch Brazilian forward, Richarlison from Everton, for a fee that is rumored to be around £60m. Richarlison has been one of the best forwards in England since his tenure at Everton. Last season he had 10 goals and five assists in 30 matches. With the exception of the 2020-21 season, Richarlison has been a 10-plus goal scorer every year for the Merseyside side.

With an attack involving star players such as Son Heung-Min, Harry Kane, and Richarlison, along with a world-class manager such as Conte leading the squad, Tottenham look poised to build on their success from this past season. This is a club to look out for next season, especially in the Premier League, as they should be competing for a Champions League spot.
