#TRACKISBACK
For me, the cyclical aspect of fashion is not only what makes it exciting but also what keeps it creative. Pairing today’s must haves with yesterday’s trends allows fashion lovers to inject new life and personality into what would seem like just another dated piece. With this constant resurgence of past trends, we also open up the opportunity for trends we never thought would come back to do just that.
On my way to work this morning I walked past sidewalks littered with billboards and advertisements, when one in particular slowed down my New York City pace. Juicy Couture had covered this corner on Lexington in the hashtag “#TRACKISBACK”. Immediately my mind rushed to my own experiences owning the famous velour tracksuit, and how instead of looking like the socialites of the early 2000’s in it, I almost always looked like a hung-over, tired college student.
Publications like Vogue and NY Mag are talking about the movement, and stores like Bloomingdale’s are featuring the newer, less rhinestoned, and more tapered tracksuits on their “Trends for Fall” page. Celebrities like Rhianna (seen in vintage Sean Paul) and Kylie Jenner (seen in her Puma line), although not in Juicy, are keeping the trend of velour tracksuits very much alive.
So how can you bring Track Back without looking like you’re on your way to get a spray tan with Paris Hilton? Pairing the old with the new of course! Adding a silk top to your velour pants and throwing on some simple heels give you a super polished look. Try adding a chunky sweater and some fashion sneakers for your go-to weekend outfit.
