Jacquemus spring/summer 2023 returned to France, Le Bourget, outside Paris. Titled “Le raffia,” the runway showcased delicate pieces for both women and men featuring natural raffia fibers.

LE RAPHIA

With the theme of natural raffia fibers, the humble material unifies the entire collection. Above all, eye-catching pieces were the Jacquemus signature, dramatic oversized sun hats. Several types of hats appeared such as giant raffia hats and fluffy embellishments hats. The raffia hats highlighted an array of looks while it went well with some splashes of vivid colors and poetic silhouettes. The natural material looked raw yet glamorous.

Alongside the hats, the raffia featured various garments as a sort of raffia-like fabric. The items ranged from jackets, and tops to blouses, and skirts, giving new and fresh looks. Also, the natural elements of raffia fibers were combined with denim, feathers, and linen as well.

Hand-embroidered by Maison Lesage, raffia fibers presented the code of the house while focusing on high craftsmanship. The brand’s design signatures highlighted the collection: artfully wrapped dresses, tailored jackets, and micro miniskirts. As to accessories, the collection displayed not only the signature hats but also giant sunflower earrings this season. 

In addition to raffia, the brand unveiled the contemporary and sophisticated styles with traditional crafts throughout the collection. The collection presented playful details such as glittering beading, bold prints, and cut-outs. Also, it embraced the Y2K trend with silver-coated jeans. Meanwhile, the collection marked the debut of a new bag, Le Bisou. Its slim and curved silhouette can be worn either on the shoulder or in the hand.

The show created a spectacular scene where raffia fell from the sky. Simply, it literary made a moment of “Le raffia”, the nature of savoir-faire.
