Haim Releases Collaboration with Taylor Swift

Pop rock band Haim released a new collaborative remix with Taylor Swift. This single entitled “Gasoline” is featured on their most recent album Women In Music Pt III, released in 2020. This comes after Haim collaborated with Swift for her album Evermore on the track “no body, no crime.”

On Instagram, Haim wrote “When we were thinking about ways to reimagine some of the tracks from the record, we immediately thought of her [Swift]. She brought such amazing ideas and new imagery to the song and truly gave it a new life.”

“Gasoline” is about sex and sadess. “No body, no crime” tells a story of a woman being murdered by her husband, who is soon avenged by her friend, the narrator. It is one of many storytelling songs on Swift’s last two albums,

Both Haim’s and Swift’s albums have been nominated at The 2021 Grammys for Album of the year. Swift, has had a particularly busy year with two albums released in 2021 and her re-recording of her 2008 sophomore album Fearless coming out in April.

Women In Music Pt III is Haim’s third album, coming four years after their second album Something to Tell You. Women In Music Pt III garnered an 8.6 on Pitchfork, their highest score on Pitchfork so far. The album consists of 18 songs, including the “Gasoline” remix and three bonus tracks.

Haim consists of three sisters; Danielle, Este, and Alana Haim. They come from a family of musicians and created Haim in 2007. They did not release their first album until 2013, however. Danielle is on lead vocals, Este on bass guitar, and Alana on percussion. The sisters first made traction as Haim with the single “Want You Back” from their freshman album Days Are Gone

Women In Music Pt III was released in June of 2020.
