Zero + Maria Cornejo SS19 Show

“It’s about using your voice right now, as a woman and standing up to be counted” said Maria, the designer for Zero + Maria Cornejo.  For her Spring/Summer 2019 collection, she wanted to show that contemporary, diverse, inclusive, and standing in solidarity in her collection. These are the power women that are loved and are unafraid to demonstrate the power of their femininity. Throughout the collection you could see this.

There was grace and simplicity with this collection. The clothing shapes wrapped and hugged the models form, clean, womanly, and unembellished. There was a special energy that came from the collection which included natural materials of Brazilian modemist design. Which inspired the grounding aesthetic for the collection, contrasting natural and sustain-ably developed textiles alongside high-tech paper-light plisse rain-coating, graphic textured jacquards or gleaming, evening satin. Zero + Maria Cornejo Spring/Summer 2019 collection were all rendered in a palette of canvas, indigo, mud black, guava and stone.

There was iconic work done by Chilean artist Gracia Barrios which you could see printed on the collection. 84% of this season’s collection was made in New York City. The denim is gold certified while a sustain-ably source viscose, now used throughout every collection is mixed with an organic linen for dresses and separates.
