Jil Sander Resort and Men’s SS18

Lucie and Luke Meier, creative directors of Jil Sander, silently debuted the brands Women’s Resort and Men’s 2018 collections which were privately shown by appointment only at Jil Sander’s headquarters located in Milan, Italy.

The creative couple were recently named creative directors of the well-known German brand by CEO Alessandra Bettari this past April of 2017. Alessandra told Vogue the husband and wife have a vision that is “modern and cohesive” and are both in touch with what is relevant now. She added that they “beautifully” combine their ideas with a “subtle” sensibility for fabrics, garment construction, and detail definition. Though they were expected to send their designs down the runway together for the first presentation of their work this coming September, Lucie and Luke decided to debut early to a select few.

Lucie and Luke’s garments in the collections hold a contemporary, modern Amisch aesthetic. The pieces consist of long, white, cotton dresses, trench coats, men’s and women’s suiting which feature a cropped pant, a cool mens leather cloak adding a sense of edge to a more tailored look, pleated skirts, and black midi dresses.

While Luke Meier was the head designer of Supreme for eight years prior to the start of his streetwear label, OAMC, Lucie is not a newcomer to the design industry either. She began her career working at Louis Vuitton under Marc Jacobs, went on to join Nicolas Ghesquiere at Balenciaga, and was the ready-to-wear and haute couture design director at Dior, where she lead the house along with Serge Ruffieux during interim collections between Raf Simon’s departure and the arrival of Maria Grazia Chiuri. Take a look at the photos from the Resort and Men’s 2018 Collection below and be sure to share your thoughts!
